Hi, I’m Alexis—the hands, heart, and busy mind behind Prairie & Petal. I’m a mom to two wild and wonderful boys, wife to a hard-working rancher, and a firm believer in the magic of growing things and creating with my hands.

I grew up between central Alberta and Vancouver Island, which means I have equal love for wide-open prairies and lush, coastal greens. I met my husband in Alberta, and in 2016, I moved out to his family farm, where I quickly fell in love with the rhythm of ranch life—and with perennials. What started as curiosity quickly turned into an obsession (which meant buying more plants, of course), and before I knew it, I was deep in learning, growing, and sharing my love for flowers with others.

I’ve always been drawn to creating, and in 2016, that passion led me to goat milk soap. We had a small herd of goats, and I kept a couple of milkers just so I could turn their rich milk into skin-loving soap. I adored it, but after having kids, life got busier, and keeping up with the goats became too much. We eventually sold the herd to focus on our cattle operation, and I put my creative side on the back burner—until fall 2024, when I stumbled into the world of tallow skincare.

There’s something deeply satisfying about making things with my hands, especially when those things nourish, soothe, and bring joy to others. Whether it’s growing perennials that bloom year after year or crafting wholesome, skin-loving tallow products, everything I create is a reflection of the life we’ve built here—simple, natural, and rooted in care.

When I’m not knee-deep in farm life, flowers, or tallow, I love to curl up with a good book (though let’s be honest, quiet moments are rare around here!). Life is busy, full, and beautiful, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m so glad you’re here to share in a little piece of it.
