Care Notes:
Bearded iris rhizomes prefer to sit just at or slightly above the soil surface—don’t bury them! They thrive in well-drained soil with good air circulation. After blooming, cut back the flower stalks but leave the foliage to help feed the plant. In summer, keep the area weeded and avoid overwatering. In fall, trim leaves down to about 6 inches. These irises don’t need winter mulch unless you're in a zone colder than 3—just make sure the rhizome stays exposed and doesn’t get soggy, or it may rot.
